The Global Khumi Organization (GKO) on May 23 issued a statement condemning the repeated beating of a pastor and Christian leader by an Arakan Army(AA) officer in Khawe Village Baptist Church, Paletwa Township, Chin State.
Reverend Sayadaw Lo Dain, a Myanmar Baptist Church (MBC) certified pastor, is also the chairman of the Pichung Baptist Church Area (PBCA) under the Paletwa Baptist Church.
Sayadaw Lo Dain gave religious education in Satchaung village, which is about a 3-hour walk from Khawe village, from April 14 to 16. On April 17, when he returned to Khawe village at around 8 pm, two AA soldiers took him to their camp. The AA battalion commander pointed a gun at him and punched, kicked and kicked him until he was almost dead. He is still receiving medical treatment at a remote location, the statement said.
In addition, the AA has been using various methods of tyranny, tyranny, and intimidation against the people and has frequently violated basic human rights, causing many people in Paletwa, especially the youth and middle-aged people, to flee to other areas. At least 4,000 people have fled to Mizoram, India, and there are still people who have fled their villages, according to the GKO.
