CRC issues 5-point warning to Myanmar nationals in India to refrain from drug trafficking

The Chin Refugee Committee-New Delhi (CRC-NewDelhi) on April 27 issued a 5-point warning to Myanmar nationals in India to refrain from drug trafficking, including illegal trade, in recognition of the Indian institutions and government authorities that have provided them with shelter and assistance.

The Chin Refugee Committee also expressed its gratitude to India for hosting Myanmar nationals as a good neighbor, even though India is not a signatory to the Refugee Convention (1951).

Therefore, the Myanmar nationals in India, in recognition of the Indian institutions, religious institutions, political parties and government authorities that have provided them with shelter and assistance,
are urged to refrain from drug trafficking, including illegal trade, in recognition of the Indian central and state governments, The Chin Refugee Committee (New Delhi) has advised the public to follow the rules issued by the civil society organizations from time to time, to respect the existing laws, to interact harmoniously with the local people in their surroundings, and to further disseminate the above points to their respective communities.

Since the military coup in Myanmar on February 1, 2021, tens of thousands of Burmese people have sought refuge in New Delhi, Mizoram, Manipur and Nagaland states of India for their safety.
