A 27-year-old mother of two living in Piwa village, Ward No. 3, Paletwah township, Sami Town,Chin State, was raped and murdered by an unknown group on May 23, Sami township residents said.
Sami township residents also said that the Arakan Army (AA) has been preventing news from leaking out about the incident of the mother of two children who were raped and murdered in Piwa.
Regarding the incident, a Sami local said, “Three days after she went missing, her body was found between Piwa and Kwee Wa, with her limbs tied up. She was on her way back from visiting her aunt’s house. She found the body and brought it to the village. The AA came and examined the body. They didn’t say anything. They told us not to take pictures and not to spread the news. It was forbidden. It happened in May. They didn’t dare to say anything. They know that some very cruel people are associated with the AA. That’s why these guys are covering up the news.”
Sami local said that the woman from Piwa village who was gang-raped and killed was the mother of two children, aged 5 and 3, on September 23, 2024, in Sami town, a local woman was gang-raped and beaten until she lost consciousness by an unknown group of people, and she is still receiving medical treatment.
Paletwa Township, Chin State, is an area controlled and administered by the Arakan Army (AA), and the AA has not yet issued any statement regarding the rape and violent killing of local Chin women.
