Of the 71 women killed in military airstrikes across Myanmar in April, 4 were from Chin State, according to a report released by the Burma Women’s Union (BWU) on May 7.

According to the Burma Women’s Union, 30 were from Sagaing Region, 14 from Mandalay Region and 5 from Bago Region, with Sagaing Region being the region with the highest number of female deaths in April.

Of the 71 women killed in airstrikes in April, 13 were under the age of 18, and about 50 were injured. The rest were killed by airstrikes (40), by artillery fire (5), by landmines (4), and by rape by security forces (1).

Chin State, In Saing Zan village in Tetem Township, six members of a family, including a woman, were killed in an airstrike on the night of April 9.

Similarly, seven (7) locals were killed in an airstrike by the military council in Kanpetlet Township, Mindat Township, in April.
