On May 7, at around 4 pm, a Skat truck hit two women riding a motorcycle from Tonzang Town in Chin State on Bogyoke Road in Kyunsinpin (Moonlai) Ward, Kalay, Sagaing Region, and crushed them, killing them on the spot, according to local residents.
“The Skat truck hit the motorcycle from behind and crushed it with its wheel. The Skat driver fled after the collision. People in the neighborhood followed the vehicle by noting the license plate number and caught up with them. The driver was handed over to the authorities. The elderly woman suffered a head injury. The girl suffered a broken leg,” said a resident of Moonlai Ward, Kalay.
The two deceased women were identified as 44-year-old Nu Magaret Mang Go Lun (Maalun), a mother of four from Tuen Mun, and 19-year-old Lia Stella Ciin Sian Muan (Muannu), a resident of Tonzang, according to the Tonzang community in Kalay.
Lia Ciin Sian Muan’s body will be taken to Tonzang for burial, while Nu Magaret Mang Go Lun (Maalun) will be buried in Tat Oo Thita Ward, Kalay on May 9.
The driver of the Skat Car is currently in custody, according to local residents.
