Arms shell explosion kills two refugee brothers in Kalay

At around 8 am today, April 16, two brothers, aged 5 and 2.5, living in the Taung Phila Ward (locally known as Nay Pyi Taw),Kalay City, were playing in their yard when a arms shell exploded, killing both of them on the spot, a local resident said.

“The neighborhood speculated that it might have been an unexploded drone drop bomb. As soon as the explosion occurred, soldiers arrived. The bodies of the two children were also taken to the hospital. Some people were questioned. The children’s father was also taken. The mother lost consciousness. Now the body has been returned. The father has also returned,” a local resident of the neighborhood said.

The deceased were identified as Tg Gin Lam Sang (Sangpi, 5 years old) and his younger brother Tg Tuan Sian Hon (Honpi, 2 and a half years old). They were living in a rented house with their family in Taung Phila Ward, Kalay (also known as Nay Pyi Taw) after their house in Pyidaw Thar Village was burnt down during the recent fighting in Pyidaw Thar Village.

“Both children died from abdominal injuries. One of them had an arm amputated. There has been no military activity or fighting in the neighborhood recently,” the local resident continued.

The bodies of the children who died in the explosion were taken to their hometown of Pyidaw Thar Village, Kalay Township, and the funeral ceremony will begin at 9 am on April 17 and they will be buried at the village cemetery.
