On the morning of May 19, the military council’s military convoy with 15 military vehicles advanced to Chin Mountain and blocked all vehicles going up to Chin Mountain from the checkpoint at Khaikam town police station in Tedim Township, Khaikam residents learned.

“They started climbing the mountain at around 4 am. The military force will be at least 200. There are soldiers in vehicles. There are also soldiers who are marching on foot along the mountain ridge. The Khaikam police station has stopped all vehicles going up to Chin State and blocked the road,” said a Khaikam resident.

The military convoy is heading along the Kalay-Taingin road, and so far, there has been no contact or shooting, according to locals.

“We also saw planes flying overhead. I don’t know if they are patrolling the military line from the air. There has been no bombing along the Kalay-Tedim road,” said a local resident of Khaikam, assessing the current situation.

At around 12 noon on May 19, the military council bombed the area around the Tonzang police station, injuring one civilian.
