April 9.

The Mizoram Students Union (Mizo Zirlai Pawl – MZP) on April 8 urged the Mizoram government to immediately enact laws to provide proper care to IDPs in the Indian state of Mizoram.

The MZP said that the Mizoram government should immediately enact necessary laws to provide proper care to IDPs and hoped that only by doing so, understanding between the people of Mizoram and the IDPs could be restored.

It is saddened to hear that the people of Mizoram are complaining about the increasing number of IDPs coming to Mizoram due to the ongoing conflicts in Myanmar and Manipur. MZP also requested that if the IDPs commit any crime, the perpetrators should be taken to court and that they should not spread rumors by assuming that they are IDPs in any way.

The Mizoram Students’ Union has stated that welcoming IDPs in Mizoram is a tradition of the Mizoram people and a must for those who believe in Christianity.

Recently, there were stabbings in some crowded areas of Aizawl, Mizoram, and according to local news, the perpetrators of these incidents were spread on social media by the MZP headquarters in Aizawl, Mizoram.

A meeting of the advisors and office bearers (OBs) of the Mizoram Students’ Union was held on April 8 at the MZP headquarters in Aizawl, Mizoram, regarding the issue of IDPs and the following statement was issued.
