Paletwa Township, Chin State, was incorporated into the eight districts of Rakhine State formed by the Arakan People’s Revolutionary Government last May, according to a report by Narinjara Media, an Rakhine news outlet, on June 12.
The eight districts that were formed into Rakhine State are Paletwa District, Sittwe District, Mrauk-U District, Minbya District, Kyaukphyu District, Taunggyi District, Maungdaw District and Thandwe District.
Veteran Chin politician Salai Kipp said in an interview with Chin World Media, “I have power, I have power, I take what you can, they have suffered the same. If Burma has power, you can do whatever you want with your oil, I will use it however you want. How much more painful is it for me to give you a penny or two of your money? If I have to suffer like that myself… I will do the same thing again because I have less power,” he said in an interview with Chin World Media about Paletwa.
The eight districts that have been formed are Paletwa Township in Paletwa District, Maungdaw Township and Buthidaung Township in Maungdaw District, Sittwe Township, Rathedaung Township, Pundaunggyun Township in Sittwe District, Mrauk-U Township, Kyauktaw Township in Mrauk-U District, Minbya Township, Pauktaw Township, Myebon Township in Minbya District, Kyaukphyu Township, Rambry Township, Ann Township in Kyaukpyu District, Taungkook Township in Taungkook Kro, Man Aung Township and Thandwe District are Thandwe Township and Gwe Township, respectively.
The Arakan Army (AA) completely captured all military council camps in Paletwa Township, Chin State, on January 14, 2024, and the ULA/AA continued to implement administrative functions in Paletwa Township.
