Ceasefire extended until April 20 due to earthquake, NUG press release

In order to provide comfort and encouragement to the people of Myanmar who suffered heavy losses in the earthquake that struck on March 28, the National Unity Government (NUG) has declared the period from April 13 to 20 as a “National Week of Mourning and Comfort,” the National Unity Government (NUG) announced on April 12.

In order to continue humanitarian relief operations during the week, the National Unity Government and the Ministry of Defense have issued a special directive (3/2025) instructing the People’s Defense Army and People’s Defense Organizations to continue to suspend all offensive operations except defensive operations in the districts affected by the earthquake from April 13 to 20, and to provide necessary assistance and protection to local and foreign relief teams, the National Unity Government (NUG) announced.
