April 18.
The military council attacked Matupi town in southern Chin State, which has been liberated from the military council, at around 2pm on April 17, injuring 5 local residents, including a Christian pastor. Four of the injured are receiving emergency medical treatment, and some of their homes were also damaged, according to Matupi residents.
A local said, “I haven’t heard of any deaths, but the pastor’s entire family was among the five people who fell near his house, so his house was completely destroyed.”
All three members of the pastor’s family were injured in the airstrike, and the pastor lost one of his legs. Four of the five injured are receiving emergency treatment.
The military council has also been conducting sporadic airstrikes on Mindat towns since early April, causing casualties among local residents.
Matupi was captured by the Chin Neway group, which includes the CDF – Matupi, and allied groups on June 29, 2024.
