A source close to the Chin Regional Defense Forces told Chin World Media that the Myanmar military council troops advancing into Chin Mountain have confirmed that they have been burning down houses in Mual Pi village in Tedim Township in recent days.
“Smoke has been seen rising from Mualpi Village since May 27. Initially, it was thought that the fallen Myanmar military council soldiers were being cremated, but looking at the smoke, it was confirmed that houses were being burned. The fighting between the defense forces and the Myanmar military council troops has not stopped. The local defense forces are collectively resisting the Myanmar military council troops from Mualpi Village,” a source close to the Chin Regional Defense Forces explained the situation.
The CDF-CDM-Siyin and the Chin Land Defense Forces, including the CDF-CDM-Siyin, began resisting the 800-strong military council troops that marched from Kalay to Chin Mountain on May 19 and are still resisting, a CDF-CDM-Siyin official wrote on his Facebook page.
“In the current battle to resist the military council troops, both Chinland Council and Chin Brotherhood forces are fighting together. This is a battle that CC and CB have jointly waged to defend Chin State. The hero Tg Suan Van Mung has given his only life for the country,” a CDF-CDM-Siyin official wrote on Facebook.
With about 70 households, Mualpi Village is the most mountainous village at the foot of the mountain on the Kalay-Taingin -Tedim road, and is located about 8 miles from Kalay.
At this time, due to the fighting, the Chin State Defense Forces are unable to confirm the number of houses that have been burned down.
