Hakha City Sees Significant Increase in Enrollment for 2025 Academic Year

The number of students enrolling in basic education schools in Hakha, the capital of Chin State, for the 2025-2026 academic year has increased significantly compared to previous years, according to Hakha residents.

A Hakha resident said, “Schools have been accepting applications for the past two weeks. This year, more students have enrolled than in previous years. The number of children coming from Falam, Thantlang, and Matupi has increased significantly this year. Currently, they are enrolled in A.H.K. (1), A.H.K. (2), A.H.K. (3), and A.H.K. (4). In addition, most of them are also enrolled in private schools.”

The Ministry of Education has also designated May 22 to June 1 as the enrollment week for basic education schools for the 2025-2026 academic year.

In the 2024-2025 academic year, a total of 6 schools, including (4) basic education high schools, (1) post-primary school, and (1) primary school, were opened in Hakha City, with a total enrollment of 4,361 students.

Schools in the military council-controlled cities of Hakha and Tedim will open in June and are already accepting applications.
