Global Khumi Organization (GKO) reported on May 3 that the Arakan Army (AA) has committed war crimes, crimes against humanity and fundamental human rights violations, including rape, in Paletwa Township, Chin State.

On April 5, 2025, at 9:00 a.m., in Sein Sin Village, Paletwa Township, a 23-year-old mother of a nursing child was raped and tried to drown her in a stream while she was picking food in a field about 10 minutes walk from the village. This is a very heinous act. Similarly, on November 22, 2024, in Ka Paletwa Township, A 35-year-old mother of a child in Sami Township was raped, beaten to unconsciousness by a group of Rakhine-speaking people, and dumped near a stream, according to the GKO.

On September 8, 2024, three members of a merchant family, including a minor child, from Mawhna village, Paletwa township, were found brutally murdered with stab wounds near Mon Daung village, Paletwa township, after returning from Kyauktaw, the GKO reported.

In addition, some Sami residents working in the Chin National Army (CNA) organizing division reported that in January 2025, their acquaintance, Sami Township, The AA forces arrested U Nyein Pyay, 32, for visiting his home in Kyi Wa village. U Nyein Pyay is a father of two and is disabled and can only walk with the help of one person. Since the day he was arrested, his family has not had any contact with him. His family is worried about his health because he is disabled, the GKO said.

In addition, the AA has not opened hospitals and clinics in Paletwa Township, where there is a lack of medicine and many people are dying, but has sent medicine and hospital equipment from the Township General Hospital in Myoma Ward, Paletwa to Rakhine State, the GKO said.

In addition, the AA has banned public gatherings in Paletwa Township since March 2025, which has deprived local Christians of the right to worship on Sundays.
