CNO/CNDF says over 300 prisoners of war, including over 60 women, captured during battle for Falam township

May 1.

A total of around 316 prisoners of war, including over 60 women, from the Military Council were captured during the battle for Falam township, said Salai Tin Mi Htut, a spokesperson for the Chin National Organization (CNO/CNDF), a Chin armed resistance group based in Falam Township and a member of Chin Brotherhood.

“There are about 316 prisoners of war, including families, and more than 60 women. As for prisoners of war, as we always say, women and children who are not directly involved in the war will be one, and the group that surrendered will be one, and the one that was captured will be one. Based on that, we will make a decision, so we will also have to announce our position on these prisoners of war soon. At the moment, we are still in the process of clearing the situation, so we cannot say anything yet,” said CNO/CNDF spokesman Salai Tin Mi Htut.

Since November 9, 2024, the Chin Brotherhood and allied groups including the CNO/CNDF have been attacking Falam township, and five months later, on April 9, 2025, they were able to capture the entire township of Falam as a military council-free area.

Chin National Organization (CNO/CNDF) spokesperson Salai Tin Mi Htut said that the clearance of Falam town, which has been cleared of the military council, is ongoing and efforts are being made to complete the clearance before the rainy season.
