Reverend Pastor U Lo Dain, a Christian minister in Khawe Village, Paletwa Township, Chin State, which is controlled by the AA, was beaten and punched by an AA officer on April 17, and is still receiving medical treatment, according to the victim.
Reverend Pastor U Lo Dain is a Myanmar Baptist Church (MBC) certified clergyman with the registration number 12124 and is a missionary living in Khawe Village, Paletwa Township.
Regarding the incident, Reverend Pastor U Lo Dain said, “On the night of April 17, after returning from the service, it must have been around 8 p.m., when I was returning from church, an AA soldier called me and said that the captain wanted to see me for a moment. When I arrived at the camp, the captain, without giving any reason, just fired a pistol at me without saying anything, but instead punched me several times, for about 8:15 to 9 p.m. He asked me if I was afraid, if I knew about him, if I was afraid, and kept punching me. He made me sit on a chair and kicked me. When I fell to the ground, he forced me to sit back and punch me again. He couldn’t stand the kicking and he was angry, so he stood up and said, ‘Be good, cooperate with us, work with us, we will watch you,’ and told me not to tell anyone, and it wouldn’t be easy if I told anyone.’” He told Chin World Media.
In the days before these events, the annual salvation training (aka baptism training) was held regularly for 3 days a week before the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The permission to hold the training was granted by submitting a letter to the AA government office in Khawe village 5 days in advance, and the office gave permission, and the deputy area manager Kyaw Kyaw also gave permission, so the training was held from April 14 to 16, according to Reverend Pastor U Lo Dain.
Reverend Pastor U Lo Dain initially received medical treatment in the village, but has now been transferred to another area. He is no longer hospitalized, but his ribs are still sore and he is still taking medicine and applying ointments.
