Zomi National Party applies to Union Election Commission for permission to establish political party

The Zomi National Party, which wants to establish a political party under Section 3 of the Political Parties Registration Law to contest the multi-party democracy general election, applied to the Union Election Commission under the Military Council on April 30 for permission to establish a political party in accordance with the law and regulations, the Military Council announced.

It was also announced that the Union Election Commission is continuing to review the application for permission to establish the Zomi National Party.

As of April 30, 24 parties have applied under Section 3 of the Political Parties Registration Law, and 50 parties have applied for permission to continue to establish and register as political parties under Section 25 of the Political Parties Registration Law, for a total of 74 parties.

Three parties, the Chin State New Congress Party, the Zomi National Party, and the Khumi National Party, have applied for permission to establish political parties to compete in the 2025 multi-party democratic general election, representing Chin State.
