April 23.
The military council camps between Kalay and Gangaw, including Kamparni Camp, Myintaw, Aung Tharyar (East, West), and the villages of Kyinthar, where the Pyu Saw Htee is located, were attacked by the Chin armed forces and the armed forces of the Plains region as part of the CDF – KKG (Kalay-Kabaw-Gangaw) Major Operation from February 2025, and were successfully captured within 2 months. The military council also bombed the villages between Kalay and Gangaw from the air, causing many civilian casualties and damaging many houses and buildings.
A local from Si Taw village between Kalay and Gangaw said, “During the battle to capture the camp near Si Taw village, our village was heavily bombed by the air force. Most of the people who are still living in the village are not yet living in the village because they are afraid of the airstrikes. For now, there is no bombing, but we cannot be sure.”
The Chin National Army (CNA), which led the entire CDF – KKG Major Operation, said that the offensive was carried out because the southern part of Kalay Township in Sagaing Region and Gangaw Township in Magway Region is a strategic route for military and political purposes.
The villages of Tin Thar, Sha Bo, Kyauk Phu, Do Nwe, Si Taw, Daw Taw, Ath Taw, Than Pho, Aung Tharyar, and Myintaw in Gangaw Township were attacked. It is also reported that there may be many civilian casualties due to military council airstrikes in villages such as Shwebo, Inn Kyun, Kyauk Uy, and Le Kyaw in recent days.
