Former Myanmar National Boxing Champion Pu Hrang Kham Passes Away

Former Myanmar National Boxing Champion and Southeast Asian National Boxing Champion U Pu Hrang Kham, 77, passed away on April 25, 2025 in Yangon. Chin World Media would like to express our condolences to the family of the late former Myanmar National Boxer Pu Hrang Kham.

U Pu Hrang Kham Biography U Hrang Kham was born on July 13, 1948, in Pyidaw Thar Ward, Hakha, Chin State, to U Khua Hung and Daw Hmet Tial.

He was the youngest of five siblings. His siblings are ( Pu Chum Kung ), ( Pi Ngun Pen + Pu Hrang Tin Nawn ), Pi Pam Cia ( Lian Thio nu) + ( Pu Lul Kung), ( Pu Hram Cung + Pi Ngun Par ).

On April 5, 1980, he married Daw Hmwe Hmwe, the daughter of U Chit Sein and Daw Thein Hlaing, and they had four (4) children.

Their children are U Hlaing Win Htun + Daw Zin Mar Than, U Zaw Myo Aung + Daw Thet Mar Hlaing, U Soe Thu Aung + Daw Khine Shwe Oo, Ma Wint Sandar (Japan), and they have seven (7) grandchildren from their sons.

U Hran Kham was passionate about sports from a young age and won gold medals representing Chin State in state and regional lethwei competitions.

He has won many medals in the world of Myanmar boxing, including

a Gold medal in the 8th SEA Games 60 Kg held in Singapore in 1975,

a silver medal in the 9th SEA Games Malaysia in 1977, and

a silver medal in the 60 Kg held in Indonesia in 1979, and has brought glory to Myanmar.

U Haran Kham served as a Deputy Commissioner of Police in the CID Criminal Police of the Ministry of Home Affairs and retired in 2009.

After retiring, he continued to serve as a ring referee and scorer in the Myanmar Boxing Federation.

In 1998, he participated in carrying the national flag in 10 national sports at the 8th State and Regional Student Sports Festival held in Hakha, Chin State.

He also receives the National Sportsmen’s Grant from the Ministry of Sports.

He was ill and was receiving treatment at Yangon General Hospital. He passed away at 11:00 a.m. on April 25, 2025, at the 11 AM.
