Chin man killed in Malaysia after fight over alcohol, body to be exhumed after more than a month

The body of a Chin man who died in a fight between Chin people on March 6 in Malaysia will be exhumed on Monday, April 28, after more than a month, according to a Chin Refugee Committee (CRC) official.

On March 6, a fight between Chin people over alcohol in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, led to a murder, and the police have been holding the body and the murderer since that day, an official from the CRC said.

“When the case was filed in court, the doctors at the hospital were conducting tests to ensure the accuracy of DNA and other information, so the body could not be exhumed immediately. It will be exhumed on Monday and buried at 2 pm,” said a CRC official.

The deceased has been identified as Salai Thian Lun Mang, 27, from Aung Ywa, Kalay Township, and the murderer is also a Chin ethnic minority and holds an Indian passport.

The CRC official said, “The murderer holds an Indian passport and is believed to have come here on a tourist trip. His uncle and the deceased are the same person. In addition, the case has been filed in court. This type of case will take 2 to 3 years to resolve.”
